Myth #5 - Tech Savvy?

Back

Do you need to be tech savvy to bid in an online auction?

This is a yes and no question.  Most people have enough tech knoweldge that they can bid online.  If you have ever searched a website on your computer or smart device you have enough expertise to bid online.  However, for those that choose not to utilize computers there are ways to bid.

If a buyer calls us and tells us that they do not want to bid online we can provide them with a form where they can specify their bids and we can bid for them.  There are basically three ways to bid:
  1. You can go online and bid the next amount for the auction.  If you are high bidder the computer will send you notification if you get out bid.
  2. If you do not want to bid at the next increment, you can specify what amount you want to bid at that is above the increment level.
  3. You can enter a maximum bid and allow the computer to bid up to that amount for you.  Buyers that know what they will pay for an item or know that they will not have online accessduring the auction time will utilize this method.  A max bid is not disclosed.  If you have a max bid and someone bids the next increment then the computer will bid for you and place you in at the next increment.

Anyone who has questions about bidding can call into the office and we will explain and help them in any way we can.  We try to make our bidding process as easy as possible.
